How to clean your water bottle most effectively

Many drinking bottles - especially those made of plastic, chrome steel or aluminum - start to smell after a while. This is due to deposits that can form on the slightly porous surface of these materials. This is not so much the case with drinking bottles made of glass such as the FILL ME bottle - glass is tasteless, does not absorb odors and is easier to clean - but glass bottles still need to be cleaned properly.

Our CEO Cuno Singer revealed some tips and tricks on this topic on the radio station «Radio 1»: to the interview

Here we have listed the most effective tricks for you:

- Easy to rinse with standard detergent
- Cleaning with a brush – bottles with large bottle openings are suitable
- Always let the bottle dry thoroughly
- If bottle and print are dishwasher safe then put it in the dishwasher
- Certain bottles, e.g. the FILL ME made of laboratory glass, can even be boiled
- For bottles that are not so heat-resistant, for example made of plastic, there are many tips on the Internet such as salt, baking powder, etc.
- Our insider tip: So-called cleaning beads, small 3mm balls made of stainless steel that you fill into the bottle and then swirl. This way the bottle cleans itself using mechanical force alone. This even removes stubborn residues such as limescale, dried tea, etc.

By the way: cleaning the cap is just as important as cleaning the bottle. Bacteria and germs feel particularly comfortable in the grooves of a thread. The FILL ME bottle with its swing top is particularly practical in this regard. The silicone sealing ring can be easily cleaned and replaced if necessary.
